An experienced sign language interpreter, Dequita Crockett prepared for her career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she earned a bachelor of science in ASL/English interpretation. Dequita Crockett continued her education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, earning a master of science in special education and deaf education.
Drawing on that academic foundation, Ms. Crockett entered the field of sign language interpretation. Since 2012, she has worked with DLT Trust Inc., where she has supported communication between hearing and D/deaf individuals through American Sign Language.
Ms. Crockett’s professional work includes interpreting religious terminology and Bible-related content in faith-based settings. She also assists with pastoral meetings and develops communication programs for congregants and church staff. Her practice follows ethical standards centered on confidentiality and impartiality.
Over the years, Ms. Crockett has provided interpreting support for Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, Catholic Mass, Deaf Connect of the Mid-South, and the National Civil Rights Freedom Awards. She also assists individuals who are deaf-blind as a sign support provider.
